Girl Confessions #22 was published by Atlas Comics (which later became Marvel Comics) in 1953.   It features romance comics and a bit of mid-century “good-girl” scandal stories.

The Girl Confessions series ran from 1952 to 1954 and finished when the Comic Code came into effect so this is considered to be your “pre-code” romance or good-girl although by today’s standard, it will not seem that shocking.    These are just a nice snippet of what life was like in the 1950s and what defined scandalous.

All of the series are self-contained so you do not need to have read the previous books to know what is going on.  The art is unique as the characters are drawn much differently in both this as well as the pre-code horror.  They are drawn to give them a realistic appearance.

Wolverine — How did he become Logan and his Canadian Roots

Wolverine’s origin story is a crucial part of his character development and has been explored in various comics and media adaptations. The following is a summary of Wolverine’s origin story as depicted in the Marvel Comics continuity:

Wolverine, whose real name is James Howlett, was born in the 19th century in Alberta, Canada. He grew up as a sickly and frail child in a wealthy family. His mutation, which granted him his unique abilities, manifested at a young age. James discovered that he had bone claws that would extend from the back of his hands, along with a regenerative healing factor that allowed him to recover from injuries quickly.

One tragic event that shaped Wolverine’s life was witnessing the death of his biological father, who was killed by the groundskeeper Thomas Logan. In a fit of rage, James’s mutant powers fully manifested, and he attacked and killed Thomas Logan. This incident led to James and his childhood friend, Rose, fleeing the family estate.

Taking on the name “Logan” and living as a drifter, he eventually ended up in the Canadian wilderness. There, he encountered a group of people known as the Hudson Bay Company, which included a young mutant named Victor Creed, later known as Sabretooth. Logan and Creed became friends and served together in several wars, including World War I and World War II.

Tales to Astonish #44 is the first Appearance of Wasp — so WHO IS WASP?

The origin story of Marvel’s Wasp, Janet Van Dyne, involves a tragic event and a transformative encounter. Here’s a summary of her origin:

Janet Van Dyne was the daughter of Vernon Van Dyne, a wealthy scientist and industrialist. After her father’s death in a tragic accident, Janet sought the help of Dr. Henry “Hank” Pym, a brilliant scientist and adventurer. Dr. Pym had been experimenting with size-changing technology and had created a serum that allowed him to shrink down to the size of an insect while retaining his strength.

Janet convinced Dr. Pym to help her avenge her father’s death, and together they devised a plan. Dr. Pym designed a special suit for Janet, complete with wings and bio-electric blasters, and modified his shrinking serum for her use. Janet became the Wasp, a costumed superhero with the ability to fly, shrink, and fire bio-electric blasts.

In their first mission together, Janet and Dr. Pym confronted the villainous alien creature known as the Black Knight. They successfully defeated him, and Janet continued to operate as the Wasp alongside Dr. Pym, who had taken on the identity of Ant-Man. They soon joined forces with Iron Man, Thor, and the Hulk to form the Avengers, Earth’s mightiest heroes.

Over the years, Janet Van Dyne played a vital role in the Avengers, using her size-changing abilities, flight, and energy blasts to aid her teammates and battle various supervillains. She became an integral part of the Marvel Universe and a respected superhero in her own right.

It’s worth noting that in later comic book storylines, Janet’s origin and role as the Wasp have been expanded upon and evolved, adding further depth to her character.
